The Suitcase

A writing competition for students

A man alone with nothing but his suitcase. He sits by himself in a extremely busy airport. He walks away with nothing in his hands.

He climbs into his old rusty pick-up and drives to a nearby gas station. He climbs out of his car with a dark look on his face, opens the door and takes a seat by the window where he has a perfect view of the airport...

A young lady carrying a tray pours the dark mysterious man a cup of coffee. They make no eye contact, the only communication made between the two is the grumbling voice of the man saying, 'What would you do if I was a murderer?' and his big black eyes meet with hers as he waits for a response. She looks blankly and turns around getting ready to walk off but then silence falls upon the cafe.

She turns and goes to say something but then all of a sudden an explosion erupts the whole town. The man turns, looks at the airport of destruction and smiles. He blinks slowly, watching the people burning, running, screaming. The waitress screams, everyone in the cafe is shouting at the top of their lungs. Pieces of shrapnel fly everywhere, plane wings, propellers and other miscellaneous objects flying through the window ...

Once the objects stop falling and everyone has calmed down, they all look at the man. He says, 'My job is done.' He bows his head, pulls out a gun, opens his mouth and puts the gun into his mouth. He says, 'This was for God... this was for God !!!' And BANG the shot is fired, his head wallowing down with blood dripping out of his mouth....the silence has fallen upon the cloud.
