The Suitcase

A writing competition for students

Once upon a time there lived a little girl called Lucy. She lived in Jersey. She lived with her mum in a deep and damp flat. Her father had been killed in a car crash. Her grandmother had said to Lucy's mum that there was a old suitcase in the flat which had treasure in it!

Lucy's mum said, "Your grandmother was mad; there is no treasure.”

Soon after that Lucy's grandmother died.

Lucy often got bullied at school by a girl called Emily. Emily was smart and had a lot of friends. Emily's parents were rich. One day after school Lucy started to walk home when Emily and her gang of friends saw her...

"Hey smelly belly," called Emily. Lucy ignored Emily. Emily walked across the road (with her friends following). "Are you trying to ignore me now?" cackled Emily.

"No," shouted Lucy.

"Oh well smelly belly, you should get home!"

Lucy ran home. She went into the deep dark flat. Today she decided to take the lift. When she got indoors her mother welcomed her with a mug of hot chocolate.

"How was everything today?" questioned her mother.

"Fine," Lucy said and walked to her room. In Lucy's room there was a door. It was to the attic. Lucy decided to go in the attic. As Lucy walked in she tripped over a suitcase! She decided to open it. Inside the suitcase was... gold! Lucy danced around.

Lucy's mum came up and said, "What is all this noise?" Then she looked in the suitcase, then at Lucy. "Oh my goodness Lucy, your grandmother was right."

Soon after that Lucy was living in a mansion. Lucy had loads of friends after that and Emily started being her friend. Lucy was so happy and so was her mother. They lived happily ever after.
